Elmbridge Borough Elections 2011

Thank you to all Elmbridge residents who voted Conservative on May 5th and by supporting us we increased our seats in the council so we now have 35 Conservative members.

Leader of the council and Conservative councillor for Hersham South, John O'Reilly, said: “We have held everything and we ended up two seats up so it was a fantastic night for us, but there is no arrogance. We have tried to be a middle of the centre, pragmatic council and it is very humbling to see our majority increase and we will continue in that mode of being a practical council and a caring, responsible council.

“The voters of Elmbridge have trusted us, yet again, and we will not let down their trust. There is no hubris.”

Be-a-Councillor

Are you a Conservative who wants to improve your local area? If so, you are an ideal candidate to become a Conservative councillor. Becoming a councillor is a uniquely rewarding experience. It gives you the opportunity to help your local community and be part of a dedicated team providing key services for your area.

Being a councillor is also a great way to gain political experience and useful skills in public speaking, debating and problem solving. Serving councillors are a broad mix of people from the local community. New councillors are good news. They mean fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm, and that will be good for your council and your local area.

The next Borough Elections will take place in May to elect 20 Councillors (also called 'Members'), a third of the total number of Members, to represent almost every area ('Ward') of the Borough. Councillors are elected for a period of 4 years.
